Dedicated to Saving Democracy From the Ground Up

Representing 8,300 Democrats in Amenia, Clinton, Milan, Millbrook/Washington, Millerton/North East, Pine Plains, Pleasant Valley, and Stanford.

What We Do

  • Expand our network of registered and enthusiastic voters through

    • Face-to-face social events with candidates, elected officials, and influence-leaders

    • Identify and reach out to new, unregistered residents; second-homers not registered in Dutchess County; recently registered Dems; and voters who have changed from Republican/ Conservative/Libertarian registrations since the start of the MAGA era

    • Producing a social media (Instagram, Facebook) presence to build awareness

    • Raise funds for candidates through social events with the candidates and solicitations through email, snail mail, the Web and social media

    • Stimulate voter awareness and enthusiasm through: Engaging social events with candidates, elected officials and other noteworthy speakers in appealing locations, with delicious food and drink and friendly and engaged neighbors

    • A vibrant and expanding email network and campaign

    • Petition Parties: wine and sign--and meet the candidates you are helping to get on the ballot and the cadre of dedicated Democrats who will help you get them elected

    • Door-to-door canvassing teams, leafleting and tabling crews

    • GOTV events with our candidates and elected officials to kick off early voting

  • Candidates at the local, state, and federal levels win by razor-thin margins. We are here to make sure our candidates win.

In last year’s election, we played an important part in getting the first Democrat elected as Dutchess County D.A. since 1906. We also played a key role in defeating the long-term Republican incumbent (and chair of the County Legislature) to elect a first-time candidate for the County Legislative district that covers most of our area.

Democracies are like the human body—they need to be healthy, they need to use their muscles, use their strength. We have to exercise this democracy every day. And that means registering to vote, it means getting the vote out, it means talking to your neighbors, it means being involved. And that’s what you guys are doing here. So thank you to the Northern [Dutchess] Democrats, …thank you all for everything you’re doing every day.”

— Kirsten Gillibrand, US Senator NY

“I had a great time at the Northern Dutchess Dems’ event earlier this month. I wouldn’t be able to do this job without their ongoing support .”

— Pat Ryan, Congressperson NY18

"When I first learned of the organic coming together of our smaller but very engaged Northern Dutchess Democratic Committees, it was momentous. The power of their combined efforts has been a sort of "boffo at the box office" impact:  significantly higher attendance, more dollars raised, and more voters engaged. This is a model that other more rural committees across New York can emulate."

— Michael Dupree: Chairman, Dutchess County Democratic Committee

“By joining together to form the Northern Dutchess Democrats (NDD), the rural communities of northeast Dutchess County have expanded their political clout and amplified their voices, already electing a new Democratic County Legislator, several Town Supervisors and other local officials, as well as the county’s first Democratic District Attorney in over a century, I look forward to continuing to partner with NDD to elect more Democrats in Dutchess County.”

— Assemblymember Didi Barrett
